Giordano is back in India with exclusive stores and an action packed 2023 ahead. The company opened its latest store at Goa’s Caculo Mall, it’s 6th in the country. Earlier, the brand opened another new store in January at One Awadh Centre, Lucknow. Giordano now has a total of 25 points of sale in India, 24 of which were opened in 2022 and 2023 alone.
Ishwar Chugani, CEO and Managing Director of Giordano Middle East, added: “Post-pandemic India is recovering better than expected. There is a general consensus that the economy will grow by 6-7% in 2023, so there is no doubt that the growth potential is there and our franchise partner is gaining traction with their store openings. That said, we still have room for improvement and we will continue to support them as they continue on their journey in India”.
Ujjval Saraf, Founder and Director of Giordano’s current franchise partner in India, commented: “Giordano is a world brand and a leader in fashion apparel and retail. Recognized for its quality and timeless designs, we were always confident that it would be well received by Indian consumers”. He continued, “The franchise came to fruition just before the pandemic, so we had to wait for the right moment to fully launch our offering. 2022 was a good year for us with the revelation of over 20 points of sale. We now look forward to a further period of ambitious growth with the continued roll-out of the Giordano brand across India in 2023”.
Mark Loynd, Executive Director and Head of Overseas Market Development at Giordano International Limited, commented: “I met Ujjval [Saraf] and his team back in 2018 to discuss the franchise, and here we are celebrating our 25th point of sale in India – all in spite of the pandemic”. He concluded, “Our franchise partner made a statement of intent in 2022, and the Group’s leadership at Giordano corporate headquarters in Hong Kong and the Middle East will continue to support them to maintain their expansion momentum in 2023. I hope to see our points of sale double in India by the end of the year”.
