Reliance Retail served 1 lakh customer per hour last Financial Year

On 2 June 2021, Reliance Ltd. released their Annual report. Among other top highlights was the significant achievements and milestone of the consumer business of the conglomerate.

Reliance Retail served 1 lakh customers every hour during the past year through it’s 11,784 retail stores spread across 7,000 cities. This includes business arising out of Reliance’s e-commerce wing, “Jio Mart”. The company said it has over 12.50 lakh registered loyal customer base across India with the retail footprint spanning over 33 million square feet of retail trading space. Despite the pandemic year’s impact, the team added 1,500 retail stores during the FY 20-21.

Reliance Retail’s offline and online businesses are serviced through 263 warehouses and distribution centres across the country, while the company directly employs over 2 lakh people, from its corporate HQ to DCs, delivery boys to store managers and staff members.

Due to continued lockdown, the company had a significant uptick in the revenues of it’s electronics retail arm, “Reliance Digital” where the company said it sold 1,100 laptops on an average every day during FY 20-21. The company also sold around 1,600 Television units daily during this period, not surprising with the screen time increasing substantially across households and a strong need for individual screens to suit one’s needs and requirements.

Reliance Fresh, the grocery arm of the parent Reliance Retail is said to have sold an average of 1,800 metric tonnes of fruits, vegetables and staples every day.

For the record, Reliance Retail reported a total Sales of Rs. 1.62 lakh Crores, with a growth rate of 24.8% and an EBIDTA of Rs. 9,654 Crores which grew at55.7% according to the website of RIL.
