Ace Turtle, the tech company which helps retailers to go online, plans to bring the range of Babies’R’Us and Toys’R’Us to India through Flipkart in association with WHP Global, the new owners and controlling shareholder of the two brands said in a statement.
Us based Toys’R’Us, a 70 year old brand had over USD 2 Billion in annual Sales through 900 stores across 25 Countries. Yehuda Shmidman, Chairman and CEO of WHP Global said, “India is one of the fastest growing markets in the world with real pending power among a rapidly growing population. We look forward to working closely with Flipkart and Ace Turtle to build Toys’R’Us into a leading destination for toy and baby products in India.”
It is to be noted that the Reliance group acquired Hamleys, the UK based toy brand in 2020. There are over 4,000 shops across the country which sell baby care products and most of them are semi- or unorganised, according to Industry data. Once upon a time market leader Mom & Me merged it’s business after acquiring online retailer Firstcry. There is hardly a distant second with regards to a vast store network.
