Whenever I wanted to look up about a Consumer Brand in Fashion or FMCG, Retail chain or regional behemoth, the only solace was “Google”. While I looked up for one particular information, the site would throw up so many interesting information that after a while, I would wonder what did I first came looking for. Time would have elapsed, still I wouldn’t have got what I came seeking…
Thus, “Retail Updates” was born first in my mind and it took me a fortnight to put the initial website together, all by myself while searching for latest industry anecdotes and my own analysis of key industry impacts, including listed companies as well as small time players.
I have been writing my views on Retail for the past 14 years, so this portal is a natural extension to that extent, just that this would carry a lot more information than what is already being covered (or not adequately covered, perhaps) on the world wide web and beyond. News and Views, as they are, without mincing words, just how I am used to be in real life. My intention is to gather and offer as much information as possible about consumers, retail brands and retailers. From India and beyond. This is just a beginning.
PS: E&OE – meaning Errors and Ommisions expected. I am not a Media moghul, nor a seasoned journalist like many out there. Rather, I am a Retailer by Profession and Choice since 1997. So, views expressed here are absolutely mine and I try my best to remain unbiased and call things spade as they are. But do let me know if there are any inadvertent errors or mistakes and happy to correct.
Afterall, today is my first day in Retailing. Every day is. Thanks for passing by.
S. Shriram,
Editor in-Chief, Retail Updates.
