Milky Mist: The Machine Behind the Mist

Central Malls, the flagship fashion retail destination of the erstwhile Future Group began operations in May 2004 at Bangalore’s Commissariat Road. From a single store, the chain reached closed to 75+ operational malls until the Covid-19 pandemic hit the retail world.

Vishnu Prasad, the first CEO of Central and an authority in the fashion retail industry has launched his own chain of specialty fashion brand for plus-sized people.

Aptly named as “Big Hello”, the four new stores have cup up in the city of Hyderabad. The outlets are located at Kukatpally, Upperpally, Miyapur, and Panjagutta neighbourhoods.

The brand will offer stylish and high-quality fashion clothing and accessories for the plus-sized men and women living in the twin-cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

With this launch, Big Hello has taken the total number of its offline retail stores to 11, spread across Bangalore, Chennai, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad while also running an e-commerce play.

The parent company Absolute Brands and Retail Private Limited(ABRPL) plans to open eight additional stores in Hyderabad by the end of this financial year.

Vishnu Prasad, Founder and CEO of Absolute Brands and Retail Pvt Ltd (ABRPL) said, “Hyderabadis love to express their personality through truly stylish and well-fitting clothes, but for a large number of plus-sized people, finding such clothes has always been an uphill battle.

Big Hello’s launch in Hyderabad solves this problem and brings local people ready access to world-class fashion and fits without compromise.”

Big Hello offers western and Indian ethnic wear for men and women with highly technical and perfect fits and finish for every body type, occasion, mood and moment.

The range includes shirts and t-shirts, trousers, jeans, chinos, shorts, blazers, kurtas, ethnic bottom-wear, and bandhgalas. The brand also offers a wide range of accessories including belts, tummy tucker, scarves, ties, pocket squares, and suspenders.

“We are establishing Big Hello to be the go-to destination for plus-size fashion across India. The brand offers stylish, high-quality garments that are exquisitely crafted to fit the unique curves and contours of plus-sized bodies,” he added.

There is a huge appetite for plus-size apparel in India. Due to various hormonal impacts, several thousand people in the country have plus-sizes and do not find a wide variety of apparel that caters to their specific needs.

The estimated market for plus-size fashion apparel in India is USD 10 Bn (INR 88,000 Cr). Interestingly, this category has a whopping 12% share in the overall fashion market in the country.

The organised market for plus-size apparel is said to be 33% of the total market, n other words USD 3.8 Bn ( INR 29,000 Cr).

The market for plus-size fashion apparel is expected to grow at a CAGR of 25% by 2030.
