American fast food chain Dominos has crossed the 2,000-store mark in India recently. The company entered India in 1996 in a franchise model with the media giant Jubilant Group.
The company has a presence across a massive 421 cities in India, driving it to an indomitable leadership position, serving over 200 million (20 crore) pizzas annually.
The company is said to have opened its first 500 stores in 16 years, while the most recent 500 stores came up in a mere 29 months. Domino’s Pizza India opened its first store in 1996 at New Delhi, and is the go-to pizza brand for discerning pizza lovers across the nation.

This growth is a testimony to the growing affluence of aspirational Indians to afford international food fare such as pizzas, availability of high quality retail space at high streets and malls and the competitive pricing of such food, thanks to higher volumes and therefore, synergising of cost of raw materials.

Sameer Khetarpal, CEO & MD of Jubilant FoodWorks Limited, said, “We are humbled to achieve the milestone of 2,000 stores in India making us the first QSR in India to cross this mark. We expect to add 180 stores of Domino’s in the current financial year.”

Domino’s India has also won a prestigious award from the Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Pizza Box Number.’ This is the first time any QSR brand has achieved such an award in India.

The Jubilant Group operates 2,900+ stores and has a strong portfolio of Brands including Popeyes and Dunkin’.
It has also incubated two brands in-house, Hong’s Kitchen, an Indo-Chinese QSR brand in India, and a cafe brand – COFFY in Turkey.
