H&M entered India in 2015 with its first store in New Delhi. Over the years, the fast fashion apparel retail chain has grown to 60+ stores across 30 cities in India. Currently, the Sweedish retail chain is expanding in to Tier 2 markets.
The brand recently opened two new stores at Dehradun in Uttarakhand and at Surat, Gujarat.

The Dehradun store is the brand’s 64th in India and is spread over 13,000 sq ft., located at the iconic Mall of Dehradun, Mohkampur.

The 65th store in India is located at the International Wealth Center on VIP Road, Surat spread over 14,000 sq ft.
Designed to make a statement at every occasion, the range includes versatile silhouettes from chic mini dresses to sophisticated maxi options—perfect for holiday gatherings and end-of-year celebrations.

For FY 2022-23, H&M had reported an annual revenue of INR 2,960 Cr., a rise of 40% over the previous year.
Globally, the company earned USD 22 Bn for the 12-month period ending Aug. ‘24.
International brands such as Zara and H&M have entered India to build a business opportunity in the INR 1,18,490 Cr (USD 14 Bn) women’s fashion apparel market.
However, the likes of homegrown Zudio and Westside by Tata Group, Pantaloon by Aditya Birla and private label businesses of the likes of Lifestyle & Shoppers Stop have been upping the ante to overcome international competition.
