Mercedes Benz India has rolled out the 200,000th Made in India vehicle from its 100-acre plant at Chakan in Pune. The German automaker entered India three decades ago and started assembling CKD – Completely Knocked Down units in the country in 2009.
The company operates over 100 luxury touch points across 50+ cities in India.
Mercedes Benz recorded its highest ever annual sales of 19,565 units during FY 24-25. The company has invested INR 3,000 Cr (USD 400 Mn) till date in India.

It must be noted that the company produced its first 50,000 cars over 19 years, from 1995-2014.
Ever since then, the global automaker upped its marketing outreach in the country and thanks to the upwardly living of a section of discerning Indians, sales of luxury cars have shot up and Mercedes-Benz has taken advantage of the situation to be in the pole position for several years now.
The next 150,000 units were produced over 11 years from 2015-2025, with 50,000 of them being produced over the last 24 months!

The company’s production facility in India is the first market outside of Germany to produce the Maybach S500 model since 2015.
The plant has also been at the forefront of the luxury electric mobility transition, commencing local production of its EQS 580 sedan since 2022.
