After steering the ship for 15 years as Executive Director, third generation key managerial personnel from the founding family, Jegan Damodarasamy has been elevated as the Chief Executive Officer of Sree Annapoorna chain of restaurants, Coimbatore. Jegan holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from PSG Coimbatore and has done his Masters degree in Food Science & Technology from University of Georgia, USA.
Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar was started by Late Shri Damodarasamy Naidu in Coimbatore in 1968 as a small catering unit inside the erstwhile famous Kennedy cinema theatre. What started as a single small outlet dishing out local delicacies such as Idli, Vada and Dosa, has gone on to become one of the most popular family-run food chains in India. Several generations of ardent fans of the brand continue to savour the flavours of Annapoorna. NRIs, foreigners and those from other parts of India visit the restaurants to enjoy the various delicacies of the brand, who’s consistency remains unparalled.

During his stint as ED, Jegan has raised the bar several notches from being a neighborhood restaurant to one of the largest single-brand single-city chain of outlets. During this period, almost all the outlets were refurbished yet retaining the oldworld charm and the age-old menu with minor twists, once in a while. The flagship hotel at RS Puram, Coimbatore was completely renovated and a new world class restaurant with international cuisine was launched in 2021.

Sree Annapoorna currently operates over 20 outlets within the city of Coimbatore, popularly known as the Manchester of India for its automotive manufacturing as well as several other related industries. Consciously, the brand has chosen to remain in the city and serve customers, though it had a presence at Chennai for a few years during the 1990s.

The restaurants open at 5.30 in the morning and are open till 10.30 in the night. The airport outlet at the domestic departures is a favourite for passengers, especially those who are not residents of the city. Many of them carry the food as parcels, to consume in-flight and sometimes, even to their families and friends back home.
