Giordano supports Mawaheb’s initiatives

Global apparel brand Giordano has partnered with Mawaheb to give the latter’s students the opportunity to showcase their artistic talent. The project is part of Giordano Initiative For Talent (GIFT), a CSR programme developed by Giordano to support the local community.

Ishwar Chugani, Managing Director and CEO of Giordano Middle East said, “The talents of these artists are amazing and deserve to be given credit and recognition. At Giordano,we care for the community and with this initiative we want to present the artistic creations of the students on a new platform, where all members of society can view their works. We hope that this will be just the start of a long collaboration.”

Mawaheb, an art studio for People of Determination of 18 years and above, has collaborated with Giordano to celebrate the work of its talented artists printed on t-shirts and postcards.

Wemmy de Maaker, Founder of Mawaheb said, “People of determination are part of our society. Giordano in collaboration with Mawaheb is giving the artists the opportunity to be recognized for their abilities instead of their disabilities. When our artists see their work displayed in an exhibition or printed on postcards or t-shirts, then, it makes them feel recognized, proud, and accepted. That’s the biggest reward we can give them.”

Students from Mawaheb’s Dubai Art Studio for adults with special needs were asked to interpret the theme “World Without Strangers” and to commemorate Giordano’s 30 years in the region. The result is an eclectic mix of artworks.

Amidst the many that were created, seven works of the students were shortlisted. This exclusive range of t-shirts imprinted with the three art creations as well as postcards and signed off by the artists, will be gifted to Giordano’s loyal customers in the UAE.

Mawaheb’s collaboration with Giordano on its 30th anniversary celebrations, will bring to the community beautiful T-shirts and postcards with the art from its talented students. The T-shirts and postcards will be available for purchase at Mawaheb.
