During FY 23-24, Kempagowda International Airport at Bangalore, Karnataka served over 37.5 million passengers, making it the third busiest in India behind Delhi and Mumbai. During this period, the newest Terminal 2 was fully operationalised with more than 50,000 sq ft of retail and F&B areas.
The Bengaluru airport has recently won the coveted “World’s Best Airport Terminal” award institutionalised by Skytrax World Airport Awards.
The airport has also won “Worlds Best Airport in the South Asian region” as well as “Best Airport in India” awards.”

The Airport has been a pioneer in setting industry-first as well as industry-best standards in the area of Travel Retail in India. When the first terminal became operational in 2008, a total area of 40,000 sft was dedicated towards domestic retail, duty free retail, F&B outlets, bars and lounges.

Over the years, the offering has only improved with a fantastic range of travel retail at the KIA and the new terminal has been adjudged among the best in the Asian region by none other than passengers.
Since opening in 2023, Terminal 2 has also received a UNESCO Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Airport along with a Special Prize for its interiors, LEED platinum certification and more.

BLR Airport clinched this prestigious title following rigorous evaluations of various frontline aspects, including check-inprocedures, arrivals, transfers, shopping facilities, security, immigration processes, and departuresat the gates.
BLR Airport achieved a significant milestone in Dec. 2023 by crossing the 300 million passenger mark since the launch of its operations (Airport Opening Day).

The 25 lakh sq ft Terminal 2 is built on the principles of four pillars: technological leadership; being a terminal in a garden; environmental and ecological stewardship; and a celebration of Karnataka’s rich heritage and culture.
Bangalore Airport is owned with a majority by the Canada based Fairfax Holdings, while the rest are with the AAI and the State Government of Karnataka. BIAL was one of the first Private Public Partnerships (PPP) that was approved by the Union Government in 2004.
The airport opened its doors to the public in May 2008.
