On the auspicious occasion of Sri Ganesha Chathurthi (Sat. 7 Sep. ‘24), India’s latest unicorn Zepto valued at USD 5 Bn has announced a 10x growth in the delivery of Ganesha idols.
The company said its sales of read-made modaks have surged to 1,500 units per hour while modak moulds remained steady at 500 per hour.
Bangalore lead the race with the highest number of sweet orders during the day contributing one-fourth of all orders relating to sweets.

Mumbai contributed to 18% while the NCR region stood at 17%, Hyderabad at 12% and Chennai at 6%.
In a view to championing sustainability, Zepto offered 10,000 eco-friendly idols of Lord Ganesha which were sold across the country.
Partnering with Svasti, a vendor dedicated to providing 100% environmentally friendly idols, Zepto empowered over 100 local artisans.

During the 24-hour period, Zepto sold 70,000+ sweets across the country.
Mumbai lead the charge in modak sales with one third of all modak orders while in Bangalore, Pedas made up for nearly half of its orders.
In the NCR region and in Hyderabad city, over 50% of orders were that of the iconic Ladoo.
Other than sweets, 6,860 kilos of flowers were delivered by Zepto in the run up to the festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

The company noted that 6,312 kilos of ladoos were sold on the Quick Commerce platform. Some interesting trends observed during the occasion was a 5x growth in modaks sold, 2.5x growing in Ladoos and 2x in Indian sweets.
Sales of pooja essentials such as flowers, coconuts and Durva grass doubled this year over the last.
Lastly and most importantly, sales of idols of Lord Ganesha grew 10x in 2024 over the last year, mostly due to the popularity of the platform which has grown immensely in the past 3 years.
