Weighing a mere 22 gms, the Carbon Fiber Watch, Edge by Titan has introduced this revolutionary concept watch to the Indian market. Formula One Car Racing legend Mika Hakkinen, the Finnish driver who drove for the Mercedes Benz F1 Team launched the product recently.
The launch of the watch was held during the inauguration of the Madras International Karting Arena (MIKA), which saw attendance from India’s Forumla Racing Drivers Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandok.
The 1.15 mm slim Edge watch by Titan is possibly the slimmest Quartz watch in the world and has been designed masterfully to fit in to the brand’s slim profile.
Housed in Edge’s signature scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the watch is among the world’s thinnest of its kind at an incredible 4.85mm. The 42 mm diameter of the case balances presence and wearability, suiting a wide variety of wrists.

The material’s lightweight-strength comes from composite material being woven tightly from carbon fibers which is infused with polymer resin, a combination almost seven times stronger and four times lighter in comparison to stainless steel.
The product development took a massive 5 years from the first stage of its design, thereby making the timepieve a true testament to dedication and remarkable teamwork of Edge’s design, manufacturing and product teams.
Strands of Carbon Filaments are heated at temperatures as high as 1,000 degrees Celsius in an inert atmosphere post which they are surface treated, sized and weaved.
Priced at INR 59,995 (USD 750), only 500 units of the piece of art have been produced, making it a desirable asset to own for watch connoisseurs. Initially, the watch is expected to be available only at select, premium “World of Titan” stores.
