India’s fastest growing luggage brand uppercase has announced the opening of an Exclusive Brand Outlet at Kolkata, the city of joy and capital of the state of West Bengal. The store is located at one of the city’s premium shopping destinations, the City Centre at Salt Lake.

An innovative and sustainable homegrown luggage brand, the newest store of uppercase has been designed to offer an engaging experience to its ardent customers.

Iconic singer, songwriter, author and RK Rupam Islam, the frontman of Fossils, the legendary rock band from Bengal made a grand presence for the store launch by inaugurating it along with the company’s Founder & his team.

Sudip Ghose, Founder, uppercase, brings a wealth of experience, having spent over a decade in leadership roles at Samsonite and VIP Industries.

He has played a pivotal role in building iconic brands such as American Tourister, Skybags, Lavie, and Caprese. A proud son of Bengal, Sudip, along with his wife, Sukanya Ghose founded uppercase to reimagine travel gear by blending sustainability with style.

Sudip Ghose said, “As someone who shares a deep connection with Kolkata, opening a store in this dynamic city is a truly special moment for me.

This isn’t just about offering high-quality, eco-friendly travel gear—it’s about encouraging a lifestyle that embraces sustainability.

Through this store, we hope to inspire our customers to make thoughtful and responsible travel choices.”

Sudip shared key insights into the brand’s journey toward sustainability and emphasized how these stores serve as platforms to inspire sustainable living and positive change.

Rupam Islam expressed his excitement for partnering with a brand that champions sustainability, “As an artist and traveler, I’ve always believed in the power of conscious choices to create lasting impact. uppercase’s commitment to blending sustainability with style and functionality is inspiring. .

Their products encourage us to think about the footprint we leave behind and show that responsible living can also be innovative and fashionable. It’s a privilege to be part of this launch.”

uppercase has opened new stores in the past months at Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. The company aims to establish a 100-store network across the country in the upcoming 24 months.

uppercase is rapidly expanding its footprint across India, with new stores already opened in Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad, and now in Kolkata.

To date, the brand’s efforts have led to significant environmental savings equivalent to 192,132 kg of carbon emissions, 42,476 liters of oil, the recycling of 24.1 Lakh plastic bottles, and 8.6 Lakhs of polycarbonate mobile cases.

uppercase is currently present at over 1,600 points of sale and wishes to take it to 4,000 in the coming years, aiming a significant share in the INR 10,000 Cr pa luggage market.

uppercase also achieved a significant milestone by winning the coveted Best Product Award at the prestigious Red Dot Design Awards for their product, Bullet.

This recognition makes uppercase the first Indian luggage brand in 69 years to receive the honor.

Recognizing that exploration and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand, uppercase designs and manufactures stylish, high-quality travel essentials crafted from recycled materials while using sustainable practices.

Their innovative product line includes eco-friendly backpacks, trolley bags, duffles, and shoulder bags. 

uppercase was valued at INR 500 Cr (USD 60 Mn) when it raised USD 9 Mn in Series B funding in Aug. ‘24. 40% of its revenues come from online channels and the company is said to have a revenue of INR 150 Cr during FY 23-24.
