The paint is still wet on the wall about the noise Quick commerce companies are making, with their incoming investments, their announcements of turning profitable, setting up 100s of dark stores and capturing market share from each other, etc.
Amidst all the noise, here’s a retailer who has opened India’s largest hypermarket. Yes, that’s right. Offline Retail rocks!
Value Zone Hypermart has inaugurated a new outlet at Hyderabad, setting a new milestone in Retail Shopping.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was done by Telugu Cinema’s Superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna, s/o Late Chief Minister of unified Andhra Pradesh, Telugu Legend and Actor par excellence Shri NT Rama Rao.
Balakrishna said, “Value Zone is surely a great retail format and is the pride of Hyderabad with its product range, shopping experience and unbeatable prices.”

Value Zone Hyper Mart is the brainchild of P. Venkateswarlu, S. Rajamouli, T. Prasad Rao and late P. Satyanarayana, and their collective vision to create a game-changing retail format has materialised into the expansive shopping destination, a press release said

Located at Nacharam, Hyderabad in the heart of the city, Value Zone Hypermart is spread over 1,67,000 Sq. Feet, offering an unparalleled range of products that cater to every imaginable need of the modern consumer.

Editor’s Note
India is a nation of shopkeepers, Kishore Biyani used to say often. Kishore ji as he was addressed affectionately, started Pantaloon Retail selling affordable fashion apparel in the early 90s and later went on to build India’s largest Hypermarket chain “Big Bazaar”.

Due to financial woes coupled with Covid-19 challenges, the company was sold lock stock and barrel to Reliance Retail.
Metro AG, the German Retail chain which entered India in 2003 was also acquired by Reliance Retail a few years ago.
America’s Walmart, in a JV with the Bharti (AirTel) Group entered India in 2008 and sold it’s business to the then Future Group. France’s Carrefour entered India in 2010 and shut down its operations by 2015, only to re-enter the country this year buoyed by its opportunities.

No matter how many billions Quick commerce companies raise from Investors (and burn to acquire consumers), offline retail is here to stay.
DMart, with all the negativity from the markets and the firing from armchair experts from various quarters, is holding their ship steady, and so are More Hyper, Spar Hyper and Spencers Hyper.
Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost.
