Reliance fills the GAP in Goa

To conquer the fashion enthusiasts who live and travel to Goa for holidays, fashion icon brand GAP has opened its first outlet in the state. the 49th store in India for the brand has come up at Madgaon.

GAP, the American fashion brand began its journey in 1969 when Don and Doris opened their first store at San Francisco. From 1970 onwards till date, the brand has become a must have for fashionistas globally.

Reliance Retail has taken over the master franchise rights for setting up GAP stores in India.

In 1983, GAP acquired Banana Republic a then two store safari and travel themed brand. In 1986, the brand launched GAP Kids at California.

For the first time, GAP expanded outside the USA in 1987 opening several stores at London.

1994, GAP opened Old Navy brand store at Colma in California based on its successful prototype of GAP Warehouse.

In 2008, GAP acquired Athleta, women’s activewear brand founded in 1998.

In 2021, the brand launched a n exclusive collection of GAP Home with over 200-piece collection on Walmart online website.

GAP was launched in India in 2022 by Reliance Retail and the brand has become a must-have for all the premium malls in the country, acquiring premium space in the ground floor alongside other top international brands.

Thanks to an extensive global outlook among the Millennials and the GenZ, many of whom have traveled to many parts of the world even in their young age, internationally acclaimed fashion brands like GAP have earned a place in the wardrobe of the elite in India.

At prices upwards of INR 2,000 (USD 24) onwards, brands like GAP have earned a place in the hearts of discerning Indians, across age groups, especially in the top 20 cities.

For 2023, GAP recorded revenues of INR 130,000 Cr. (USD 15 Bn). The company operates over 3,500 stores in 140 countries.
