Editor’s Note

India consumes around 750 metric tonnes of gold each year and the numbers are growing progressively. China consumes around 984 metric tonnes of gold annually.

Gold, as a metal, ornament or jewellery is considered to be one of the safest investments for most Indians, given that gold prices grow two times every 6-7 years.

India is among the top five countries in the world with regard to consumption of Platinum.

According to World Platinum Investment Council’s (WPIC) latest Platinum Quarterly report, a significant deficit is expected in 2024 in the global platinum market.

However, platinum jewellery demand is expected to grow 7% this year to 1,994 koz (thousand ounces), its highest since 2021.
