Quick Service Restaurant chains Subway has added 100 stores across India in 2024. With the latest additions, the brand operates over 900 outlets in the country across 160 cities. The most recent outlet has come up at Lokhandwala in Mumbai/
Subway is among the top QSR chains in the world with over 37,000 restaurants in over 100 countries and territories, serving fresh made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, salads, and bowls.

Subway in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is represented by Culinary Brands, part of the eponymous Everstone Group, a leading F&B platform and also operates Fresh and Honest Coffee and Lavazza Coffee in India.

Though most of the bread is freshly baked at every outlet every day – the food gets relatively unhealthy as the footlong contain various sauces, add-ons, toppings and a healthy dose of non-vegetarian options as well.
Interestingly, India is the first and only country for Subway to opeate two separate counters for vegetarian and non-vegetarian offering, a move that has endeared millions of Indians to visit the place often.

Fred De Luca, along with Peter Buck and Carmela De Luca founded Subway in 1965 in Connecticut in the USA and operated the first outlet as a “Franchised” store, which was invested by his uncle.
Subway is the only restaurant chain in the world who’s all outlets worldwide are run by franchises and not a single is run by the brand directly.
Subway India is said to have an annual turnover of INR 700 Cr., while its global revenues for 2023 was USD 9.98 Bn.
