It’s that time of the year when consumers flock jewellery stores to shop for gold – legend has it that what ever is done on the auspicious Akshaya Thrithiya day multiplies. After all, who doesn’t want their coffers to multiply!

Quick Commerce companies are leaving no stone unturned and are rushing to deliver gold and silver in 10 mins!

Big Basket – A Tata Enterprise, India’s oldest and largest e-commerce company for grocery and household items, has announced an exclusive tie-up with sister company ‘Tanishq’ to deliver gold and silver.

Along with HDFC Bank – TATA Neu Credit Card, users get 5% Extra Neucoins on their purchases while Big Basket will offer Free delivery for the first 4 orders made by consumers.

Big Basket is offering 0.5 gm and 1 gm in 22 kt, 0.5 gm and 1 gm in 24 kt and 10 gm 999 purity silver coins bearing motifs of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi.

The craze for buying gold is only surging, faster than the price of gold over the last few years. Interestingly, gold prices have doubles the fastest in the last 4 years ever!

Tanishq, one of the gems of the TATA Group reported annual revenues of INR 38,353 Cr for FY 23-24. Revenues include sales from brands such as Caratlane, Zoya, Mia and Tanishq retail stores which are spread across the country.

Big Basket started off as a neighbourhood ecommerce platform delivering grocery and household items in 2012 in Bengaluru. It was acquired in 2021 by TATA Digital with a majority stake for an estimated valuation of USD 2 Bn.
