Minister White, a pioneering Indian brand from Chennai, which is recontextualizing the way India and Indians look at wearing traditional Dhotis has announced the opening of its 48th Exclusive Brand Outlet (EBO).

The newest store has come up at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, the second EBO in the temple town.

Mr. Pothiraj, Managing Director and CEO of Otto Clothing Pvt. Ltd. which owns the brand said, “We are very excited to open our second store in the holy town of Tirupati today on this auspicious Muhurtam day – 16th Jul. ‘25.

Our presence in the city over the past 2 years with the first store located at Air Byepass Road has given us the confidence to launch this new store in the bustling market of Gandhi Road. We sincerely thank our patrons for supporting us all along.”

The company employs over 1,000 people across its three factories located at Srivilliputhur, Salem & Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Suresh Ramasubramaniam, Chief Business Officer added, “We launched Minister White in 2014 in the Indian market. Ever since, we have been the pioneer in the traditional wear apparel industry, offering a trendy & fashionable range to suit the varied needs of our esteemed consumers across markets.”

The brand also offers accessories including vests and briefs as well as a wide range of Kids-wear, to match that of the adults’ range.

The brand currently retails through over 5,000 Multi-Brand Outlets (MBOs) across the country and plans to reach over 100 EBOs by FY 26-27.

The brand is planning to expand to Northern India this year and is exploring expanding to international markets such as the USA, the UK, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia which have a sizeable Indian population.

Editor’s Note

Traditional wear has been gaining prominence in recent years, thanks to the younger generation who are preferring contextual attire. There is also an interesting trend where the Millennials and the GenZ do not want to repeat their clothing for different occasions such as social, spiritual, etc.

The apparel market size in India is currently estimated to be USD 100 Bn. The traditional wear apparel market is projected to grow to USD 45 Bn by 2030.

Brands like Minister White are opening stores across the country to cater to the growing needs of the young and old, who are getting more choosy with their traditional clothing shopping, with more emphasis on style, quality and pricing.
