Ace badminton players Saina Nehwal and Peter Gade came together recently in an event curated by leading global sports brand Yonex. The event was aimed at distribution of essential equipment, racquets, and training kits.
The initiative was to identify and offer access to quality gear to children from underprivileged backgrounds who display sporting potential.

Saina Nehwal visited the Yonex Exclusive brand Outlet (EBO) located at World Street by Omaxe, Faridabad and personally handed over racquets and training kits to discerning players.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from families, coaches, and children who had the opportunity to interact with the champion athletes.

Saina said, “The Omaxe Group has started such a wonderful initiative with the racket donation drive. I feel that for children who cannot afford to play, having these rackets delivered to their homes would be a very big deal for us.
I have done so much for the country, and I believe that our children have the strength and capabilities to excel in every sport.” She encouraged them to pursue the sport with discipline and confidence.

Jatin Goel, Executive Director, Omaxe Group, said, “At Omaxe, we believe that community-building begins with creating opportunities that genuinely touch lives.
Watching these children receive equipment directly from someone they look up to was deeply inspiring. We look forward to hosting more initiatives that empower the next generation.”

Editor’s Note
In a rare gesture of sorts, sporting brand Yonex, which Sania and Peter endorse has taken this novel gesture of donating sporting gear.
Such events certainly drive footfalls and positive PR to all concerned. But behind such initiatives resides a deep concern for the society and the less-privileged, which must be appreciated.

For FY 2025, Yonex reported revenues of USD 1 Bn, displaying a growth of 18% over the previous fiscal. The brand operates over 50+ EBOs in India and is available at hundreds of sporting gear stores.
