The Government of India has announced Late Shri T.T. Jagannathan, former Chairman of the eponymous TTK Group has been conferred Padma Shri award posthumously, as part of the Padma Awards 2026.
The TTK Group was founded in the year 1928 by Late Shri. T.T. Krishnamachari and is one of the country’s oldest and most diversified business conglomerates.

Speaking on the announcement, Mr T.T. Raghunathan, Chairman, TTK Group, and brother of T.T. Jagannathan, said:“We are humbled and proud that T.T. Jagannathan has been conferred the Padma Shri Award for his enormous contributions to the Indian industry.
He was not only a visionary leader, but also a compassionate human being, whose values guide us every day. This honour celebrates a legacy of service to the nation.”

Over nearly a century, the TTK group has grown from an indenting and distribution agency into a multinational enterprise.
The Group’s businesses include kitchenware, consumer durables, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, maps and atlases, protective devices, visa services, and virtual assistant services.
Editor’s Note
The conferment of Padma Shri award to Late Shri T.T. Jagannathan is a tad late, but most well deserved.
The Indian Government could perhaps do well, by identifying Senior Citizens during their lifetime and award them, so they can receive the same from the Hon’ble President of India, instead of being conferred posthumously.

Mr. Jagannathan was not just a visionary leader, but also brought to life several day to-day ideas in to reality, through his sharp business acumen.
On India’s 77th Republic Day, we pay homage to one of Bharat Mata’s special children for his invaluable contributions.
Jai Hind.
