Hold your breath.
Apple plans to open its second store in Mumbai and sixth in India at Borivali. This has brought in mixed reactions from Apple fans and the larger retail business community.
Borivali, once considered a distant suburb of Mumbai has now become a prosperous township, with the Sky Line Mall spread over 10 lakh sq ft set to become the largest shopping destination in Mumbai.

The upcoming store is located 37 kms from the existing Apple Store located inside the Jio World Plaza at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
The Sun City Mall boasts of International and Indian brands including Armani Exchange, Superdry, GAS, asics, Steve Madden, PF Changs to name a few.

Lifestyle and Max, by Landmark Group and Pantaloons by Aditya Birla retail are the key anchor stores at the mall.
Apple choosing to open a brand store so far from the core part of Mumbai reflects two key things – consumers of Apple products in India are burgeoning; those residing even in non-core areas of a city like Mumbai are reflecting higher disposable incomes.
Editor’s Note
Apple is planning to inaugurate the store at Sky Line Mall Borivali on 26 Feb. ‘26 (26/02/26 or 2/26/26).
For FY 24-25, Apple India reported revenues of INR 79,000 Cr, (USD 9.5 Bn), a growth of 18% over the previous year. Net profit too was up 16% to INR 3,196 Cr.

Incidentally, Apple’s India revenues are a minnow, when compared to its global sales. For the record, Apple reported USD 416 Bn for FY 2025 with an operating income of USD 112 Bn.
Apple has a very, very long way to go in India, not just to capture the emotions of Indians but also to capture a significant market share by value.
