In a shocking announcement, BBHA – Bruhat Bengaluru Hotels Association has announced that restaurant operations across most eateries in India’s silicon valley would be shut down w.e.f 10 March 2026.
In a statement shared on their official page on X (formerly Twitter), the association said, “The supply of commercial gas cylinders has been stopped starting today. (9 Mar. ‘26).
Since the hotel industry falls under Essential Services, common people, senior citizens, students, and those in medical and other professional services who depend on us will face severe difficulties for their daily food and breakfast.
Additionally, until the gas supply returns to normalcy, the hotel industry will also have to face significant hardships.”
Oil companies had previously stated that there would be no disruption in gas supply for 70 days.
Despite this, the sudden stoppage of supply is a major blow to the hotel industry.
The letter has been signed by Shri. PC Rao, Honorary President, Shri. Subramanya Holla, President and Shri. Veerendra Kamath, General Secretary.

The news of restaurants shutting down indefinitely due to LPG shortage, as a result of the West Asia War has sent shock waves not just in Bengaluru city, but across the country.
The decision to stop supplies is unprecedented, especially without any prior notice by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
It is not clear, whether this decision is only for eateries which are operated by members of BBHA, or non-member restaurants as well.
