Formerly known as Galaxy Cloud Kitchens Limited, a company listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange is the new force of organised retail in Northern India.
Incorporated in 1981, the company operated for years in the food tech and hospitality space (including manufacturing bakery products, desserts, and ready-to-eat meals), later focusing heavily on the cloud kitchen model.
In Jan. 2026 the company officially changed its name as Galaxy Supermarket Limited to focus entirely on the brick-and-mortar retail supermarket sector, targeting Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
For FY 24-25, the company reported revenues of INR 15.23 Cr.

Because the company was writing off legacy food-tech assets of the previous B2B operations and bearing the upfront execution costs of setting up new supply chains and physical store networks, it posted a full-year net loss of INR 3.29 Cr for the same period.
However for FY 2025–26, the first full fiscal year operating completely as a supermarket entity, operating revenue scaled to INR 42.31 crore.
More importantly, the high inventory velocity of grocery and FMCG retail successfully pulled the entity into the green, booking a net profit of INR 1.52 crore.
The 13-store chain currently operates in two main clusters around Karnal and Kaithal, as well as a few other towns.

Editor’s Note
With Galaxy, the Biyanis are perhaps testing waters with grocery retail yet again. The Biyanis built grocery retail industry in India with the once eponymous Big Bazaar hypermarkets, modelled in the lines of globally acclaimed similar concepts.
The Managing Director of Galaxy Supermarkets Sunil Gopikishan Biyani, cousin brother of India’s retail king Kishore Biyani is redrawing grocery retail “galaxy” in northern India, one store at a time.
As a Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director, his role is defined by strategic board-level governance, committee participation, and representing the interests of the underlying promoter group.
His primary professional expertise lies heavily in retail infrastructure, building construction, property transactions, and mall management.
Over his multi-decade tenure within the Future Group ecosystem, Sunil Biyani operated primarily behind the scenes, specializing in the foundational infrastructure, real estate, and hospitality arms that supported the group’s massive retail expansion.

Starting small and focussing on micro markets, especially Tier 2/3 towns, Galaxy Supermarkets has had a wonderful start indeed.
This coincides with the same model which was once upon a time known as KN’s Fair Price, a format one step above Ration Shops but with the convenience of self-service.
