TAG Heuer relaunches the Carrera Chronograph Sport in a refined 42mm avatar for September 2026, timed to Formula 1's Spanish Grand Prix debut in Madrid — a bold signal of the brand's India ambitions.
The Carrera Panamericana road race of 1963 inspired Jack Heuer to design a chronograph built for speed — a watch with a purpose that went well beyond aesthetics.
Sixty-three years later, TAG Heuer relaunches the Carrera Chronograph Sport in a refined 42mm format, timed to Formula 1’s first-ever Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid.
The synchrony is unmistakably deliberate.

TAG Heuer serves as Formula 1‘s Official Timekeeper and Title Partner of the race — motorsport authority that gives the relaunch its singular credibility.
The 2020 predecessor arrived at 44mm. The 2026 edition slims to 42mm, with thickness reducing from 15.48mm to 14.17mm — a sharper, more wearable form without surrendering sporting character.
Four dial variants debut — black, blue, silver, and green.
Arabic numerals now replace baton-style markers, sharpening legibility with a clear racing-cockpit intensity.
The pump-style pushers, rooted in Edouard Heuer’s 1887 patent, return with colour-accent rings. The fixed tachymeter bezel pairs a steel outer frame with a ceramic insert in matching dial finishes.

Powering the collection is the new in-house Calibre TH20-00, an evolution of the acclaimed Heuer 02. At 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a column wheel and vertical clutch, it delivers 80 hours of power reserve.
European pricing opens at approximately INR 6 lakh for the leather-strap model, with steel-bracelet editions at approximately INR 6.2 lakh. India-market pricing will reflect applicable import duty structures.
India’s luxury watch market is accelerating meaningfully.
Valued at USD 1.7 billion in 2025, it is projected to reach USD 2.9 billion by 2034, growing at a CAGR of approximately 6%, driven by a rising affluent consumer base.

Rolex, Omega, Cartier, and TAG Heuer dominate this landscape. One in five luxury watches sold in India is reportedly a TAG Heuer — a statistic that reflects the brand’s deep and enduring retail equity.
TAG Heuer has formally declared India a “priority country,” opening its first-ever franchise boutique in New Delhi with an ambition to double its India business within five years.
The India-EFTA trade agreement, which came into effect in 2025, has meaningfully reduced import duties on Swiss timepieces, broadening access for India’s aspirational consumers and accelerating luxury watch retail growth.
The share of premium-and-above watches in India’s total watch sales surged from 48% in 2020 to 70% in financial year 2025 — a structural shift that is reshaping both retail formats and consumer expectations.

India’s collector community is transitioning from badge-value purchasing to genuine horological discernment. The Carrera Chronograph Sport’s return finds this maturing audience at exactly the right moment.
Editor’s Note
The Indian luxury watch buyer is no longer simply chasing a logo — they are investing in legacy and the craft behind it. That decisive shift is transforming how global watch brands must now engage with this market.
TAG Heuer’s timing is near-perfect.
The EFTA trade deal, the first franchise boutique in NCR, and a refreshed Carrera line create a rare convergence of market readiness, brand intent, and product relevance.

India’s watch retail landscape is set for structural change. Single-brand boutiques and immersive experiential retail will define the decade ahead — generously rewarding brands that commit early and commit deeply.
The Carrera Chronograph Sport is more than a relaunch. It is a confident declaration that India has arrived on the global luxury stage. The countdown has begun.
