Swiss Military’s plan for 50 exclusive brand outlets by March 2027 and INR 1,000 crore turnover shows how India’s travel gear market is being reshaped.
India’s branded travel gear market is estimated at INR 7,500 crore, with the premium segment near INR 2,500 crore and the mass segment commanding INR 5,000 crore.
VIP Industries, Safari and Samsonite’s American Tourister dominate shelves, while Swiss Military, India’s licensee of the global brand, contests the premium end against venture-backed challengers.
Newer D2C names Mokobara, Nasher Miles, Uppercase and EUME are walking from online into stores; Mokobara raised INR 170 crore in September 2026, Nasher Miles leans on distribution.

Delhi-based Swiss Military Consumer Goods doubled consolidated revenue from INR 130 crore in FY23 to INR 260 crore in FY26, through 15-plus manufacturing partners and over 1,000 dealers.
Fresh moves followed: an INR 49 crore rights issue, NSE trading from 17 August 2026, and Alpine Club, a sub-brand opening the INR 5,000 crore mass market to value-conscious travellers.
The company targets 50 exclusive brand outlets by March 2027 and INR 1,000 crore turnover in three years, with Swiss Military contributing 75% and Alpine Club the balance.

Exclusive stores matter because the brand sells through 1,000-plus dealers today; own outlets build pricing power, showcase full ranges and capture data on what travellers truly want.
Consumer challenges remain: Q1 FY27 revenue of INR 54 crore dipped 3% year on year, and value-conscious shoppers beyond metros compare prices before choosing brands.
Yet the ambition has logic: a 30% premium luggage share, about INR 750 crore, plus stores where travellers touch, lift and trust a bag.

Editor’s Note
The arithmetic is bold: INR 260 crore to INR 1,000 crore in three years means roughly 57 percent annual growth, a pace dealers alone rarely deliver, so every new store must count.
Notice the crossover: online-born brands are adding stores for trust, while dealer-led brands add stores for control. Both are chasing the same traveller at the same counter.
Luggage is a considered purchase, and India is adding airports and railway stations, so journeys will multiply.

Brands that begin every trip with a trusted bag will travel furthest.
