Brands that DT represents include Rovio (Angry Birds), 20th Century Fox (Simpsons, Family Guy, Ice Age, etc), The Pokémon Company, Beyblade, Mr Maker, Oggy & the Cockroaches and Candy Crush.
The latest to join the list is “Hello Kitty”, the iconic brand that is loved by children and adults alike.

Sanrio, the Japanese company that owns the rights for the “Hello Kitty” franchise has appointed Dream Theatre to distribute its products in the country.
Hello Kitty is valued at USD 3.8 Bn (INR 30,000 Cr.) and is poised to have a successful inning in India.
Silvia Figni, COO (EMEA, Oceania and India), Sanrio Company Ltd. told the Economic Times, “2024 is the year of the 50th anniversary of the Hello Kitty brand and in this scenario, it seemed perfect to enhance our presence in India. This is the moment of maturity and we are ready to face the complexity of the Indian market”.

The company is said to initially focus on accessories and apparel that it is famous worldwide.
Starting the festival season that is expected to begin from August onwards, the brand is expected to be seen across major retail stores in the country.
Shintaro Tsuji founded Sanrio Company Ltd. in Tokyo in 1960 with the motto “Small Gift, Big Smile” and the aim of bringing happiness to people’s lives through inexpensive goods.
The company reported a turnover of USD 576.3 Mn (INR 4,810 Cr) and employs over 750 people worldwide.
