Sleepy Owl Coffee, the coffee-startup that offers various kinds of Instant Coffee in exciting brews has announced on its LinkedIn Page that it has unleashed a new viral campaign with doppelgängers – people who are look alike of celebrities or other famous people.
The company in its post on 31 Mar. ’23 said that there are 7 lookalikes for every person in the world; Sleepy Owl Coffee has more than 1145 Amit Jis as customers; there are over 12.5 million Pathaans in the world; anyone can be a bhai (Some by choice, some by force). While a few popular websites and even twitter users have reported this online, we at Retail Updates believe this is a spoof ahead of April Fools Day. A very genuine attempt to get the internet talking with the amount of publicity they would derive over today and tomorrow and how this could become a campaign case study as well.

As a start-up with over USD 15.4 mn funded over four rounds, it is impossible that the brand would take up such a bizarre idea going public with images of top Bollywood stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan. It is obvious that the brand has tried such a wonderful idea of morphed campaign posters on Metro rail coaches and OOH locations such as bus stands on public roads.

The company was founded in 2018 by Ajai Thandi, Arman Sood, Ashwajeet Singh and its investors include DSG Consumer Partners, Angel List, First Principles, among others. The company has an estimated annual turnover of around Rs. 100 Cr and its main competitors include Rage Coffee, Blue Tokay, Flying squirrel in the specific category of speciality coffee as well as Nescafe and Bru Instant in the mainstream instant category.
We wish them good luck with this viral campaign!
