No doubt that 2020 was a tough year with an over all -4% growth over the previous year, but Asia Pacific region is expected to grow the second highest in the world after Latin America between 2020-2025, reports Euromonitor, a research agency which keeps a tab on consumer activity including Retail across the world.
The top 10 companies by Revenue in the A-PAC region are listed in the below graph, courtesy Euromonitor. It is to be noted that that Chinese companies top the list with global giants Walmart and Amazon much behind.

E-Commerce in the region is expected to grow to USD 2 Trillion by 2025, driven by a younger population, massive digital transformation and over all demographics in this hub post pandemic, according to the report which can be downloaded here.
Global E-commerce giant Amazon and world’s largest retailer Wal-mart are ranked 7th & 8th in the top 10 Retailers list by turnover while Amazon ranks 4th among the Top 10 e-commerce companies in the region. It is to be noted that among Retail and E-comm companies in the region, the top positions are led by Alibaba and JD . Com, both Chinese behemoths with a turnover of USD 298 Bn and USD 221 Bn respectively.
Reliance Retail ranks 67 in the list with a reported revenue of USD 6 Bn and the Future Group at 76 with a reported revenue of USD 4 Bn. Avenue Supermarkets which runs D’Mart is featured 97 on the list with a reported revenue of USD 3 Bn.
