Pepe Jeans opens India’s largest store

It’s the season of new store openings even as brands get ready for the upcoming festival seasons. Many franchisees avoid the period between mid-June until mid-July to open stores, right after which the first big festival season of Ganesh Chathurthi arrives.

International casual wear brand Pepe Jeans London, known for its stylish denims and soft fabrics has announced the opening of its largest store in India.

Interestingly, the newest store hasn’t come up at a metro city or a top notch mall, rather at a tier 2 town.

The 3,138 sq ft store is located at Amarpali Marg in Vaishali Nagar, a prominent neighbourhood in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Pepe Jeans was one of the earliest international fashion brand to enter India in the 1990s alongside Levis and United Colours of Benetton with notable partnerships with Indian entrepreneurs due to prevailing FDI regulations back then.

At the time, even single brand Foreign Direct Investment was not allowed, so international brands had to operate retail stores through local partners, which eventually changed through a historic law passed in India in 2006.

Pepe Jeans London was founded in 1973 and offers fashion apparel for women, men and kids as well as accessories such as footwear, sling bags, belts, wallets, etc.

Pepe Jeans India reported revenues of INR 638 Cr for FY 24. The brand operates over 440 outlets globally, of which over 200 stores in India, making it one of the largest focus markets globally.
