Bangalore city has been the launchpad for several retail and consumer brands in India. From large domestic retail formats such as Tata Westside to Future Group’s Central, international consumer brands such as McDonalds to a long list of many others, the silicon valley of India has been a favourite for decades now.
The cosmopolitan culture of Bangalore coupled with splurging capabilities makes it one of the best places in India to open new formats. Though there has been a widespread decline of retailers opening new stores at high streets, a few key markets such as Commercial Street in Bangalore, Linking Road in Mumbai, Khan Market in New Delhi and the populous T. Nagar area in Chennai haven’t lost sheen, yet.
Keeping this tradition alive and seeing a larger opportunity to expand its business, Vedant Fashions, the owner of brands such as Manyavar & Mohey with Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma as brand ambassadors, has opened its world’s largest store in Bangalore. Spread over 25,000 sq ft over three floors, the newest Manyavar store is located at Commercial Street, in the heart of the city.

The store’s enormous 3-dimension (3D) LED screen makes it stand out from the rest of the crowd. Key aspects of this store include clear circulation, a greater sense of space and maximum display area. One of the key challenges faced by celebration wear retailers such as Manyavar, is the inability to showcase their products – in a sequence, especially. This particular aspect has been well handled at this store with its vast expanse and product range.
Due to adequate space availability at the store, it has been made possible to ensure a clear circulation for shoppers to walk through the store and browse in a relaxed mode, something that is quite important while buying clothes for an event that celebrates life’s moments.
By ensuring the above two, Manyavar has also successfully ensured a great sense of place, by combining traditional appeal of fixtures and furnitures, coupled through a contemporary touch that is flavoured with modern aesthetics.
While many retail chains use internationally acclaimed fixture designs, Manyavar has used a throughout Indianised furniture theme, which offers a traditional and regal appearance. The interior design is reminiscent of the diverse Indian cultures as well as a celebration of history, art and tradition from all over the country.

Manyavar began its journey three decades back with a single store and went public with an IPO in 2022. The company reported annual revenues of Rs. 1,355 Cr for FY 22-23 and a net profit of Rs. 429 Cr. The ethnic wear market size in India during 2023 is estimated to be Rs. 170,000 Cr.
While Vedant Fashions has been a pioneer in charting history with its celebrationwear brand Manyavar, the company acquired Hyderbad-based Mohey, a store format dedicated for women’s wear a decade ago.
Together, the format has not just clicked with Indian shoppers but has also made the appeal of Indian ethnic wear global. The brand’s customer profile ranges from aspirational middle class Indians, visiting NRIs, expatriates living in India as well as foreign travellers who visit our country.

In the recently released Hollywood movie “Murder Mystery 2” feat. Jeniffer Aniston and Adam Sandler, the couple was seen sporting celebration wear by Manish Malhotra in a wedding scene of one of the key characters in the movie. The costume choice was a topic of quite a chatter in social media.
The company operates over 135 exclusive brand outlets in India and in international markers such the USA, UAE, Canada, and the UK. Vedant Fashions is a manufacturer, trader, and seller of readymade ethnic wear for men, women, and children in India, primarily under the brand names Manyavar, Mohey, Mebaz, Twamev, and Manthan.
